Domori once again stands out at the Tavoletta d’Oro Awards, winning the Gold Medal in the Best Single-Origin Dark Chocolate category with its Criollo Chuao 70% for the second consecutive year.

The award ceremony took place on Saturday, March 7, during the “I Cioccolati del Mediterraneo” event, held at the Museo Archeoindustriale di Terra d’Otranto in Maglie, Salento, in southern Italy.

This recognition highlights one of the most distinctive elements of Domori’s history and production: Criollo, the rarest and most prized cocoa variety in the world, at the heart of the Criollo Project, developed by Domori’s President Gianluca Franzoni since the company’s founding in 1997.
Domori has made a fundamental contribution to safeguarding the biodiversity of this rare variety through research and development carried out in its plantations in Venezuela and Ecuador.

Originally from Venezuela, Chuao represents one of the finest expressions of this exceptional cocoa. It stands out for its notes of hazelnut, dulce de leche, lucuma, and mamey, combined with light acidity, pronounced sweetness, and remarkable aromatic roundness.

Now in its 24th edition, the Tavoletta d’Oro Awards are the most prestigious recognition dedicated to fine chocolate in Italy. Tasting evaluations are carried out using the official assessment method developed by the Compagnia del Cioccolato, the country’s leading association in the field, which brings together professional tasters, journalists, experts, and gourmet enthusiasts. Over the course of the year, the association’s tasters analyzed more than 1,200 Italian chocolate products across 14 categories. After a rigorous selection process carried out by regional panels, only products scoring at least 85 points were admitted to the final stage.

Domori, based in None (Turin) and part of Polo del Gusto, is widely recognized for its commitment to research and the enhancement of the finest cocoa varieties: Domori’s production vision focuses on rigorous raw material quality, strict supply chain control, a minimal ingredient list, and sensory precision.

With this new gold medal, Criollo Chuao 70% confirms its status as one of Domori’s signature chocolate bars and a benchmark in the world of single-origin dark chocolate.
