The Atelier Choco+ Project

The Abele Group is an association founded in Turin in 1965 which has always supported the welcoming of fragile people with the commitment to build social justice. Today the association is active in various fields: from the treatment of addictions to the reception of victims of trafficking, from the protection of families in a situation of conflict to services for fight poverty, from publishing on social issues to international cooperation. 

In 1982 the Abele Group founded the Communauté Abel in Grand Bassam (Ivory Coast), an aid project for minors in conflict with the law, adolescents in situations of social marginalization, victims of trafficking, mistreatment and exploitation.

In 2018, the training offer of the Communauté Abel was enriched with the creation of the Atelier Choco+, the first 100% Ivorian and 100% fair trade cocoa processing laboratory.

The objectives of Choco+ are: to enhance the main local raw material, recognizing small producers a fair price in exchange for respecting the rights of workers and the environment; train and create job opportunities for disadvantaged young people; generate profits that can support the social activities of the Communauté Abel.

The cocoa used for this bar is grown by AgriMagni, an Ivorian social agricultural enterprise whose profits support the activity of the Agency N.1 Pavia per Ayamé, an Italian NGO that has been operating in the Ayamé area (not far from Grand Bassam) for 30 years, in the health, environmental and child protection fields.

Domori, the first chocolate company in the world for the production of excellent chocolate with a short process and a Piedmontese company with a sensitivity to social issues, has chosen, by importing this product, to make an important economic contribution to all these realities.
